Poet and writer Giedrė Kazlauskaitė (born in Kėdainiai, Lithuania in 1980) studied Lithuanian Language and Literature at the University and worked on her doctoral thesis, but didn't finished. She is one of the most promising poets of her generation in Lithuania. Her first publication was the prose volume Sudie, mokykla! (Bye-Bye, School!) in 2001, which was followed in 2008 by her poetry collection Heterų dainos (Songs of Hetaeras). She wrote her third book Postilės (Post illa verba, 2009), dealing with the Gospels, jointly with Father Julius Sasnauskas. Her next book of poems, Meninos, was chosen as one of the five best poetry publications of 2014 (Book of the Year Campaign). Her fifth book and third book of poetry, called Singerstraum, came out in 2016 and won two literature prizes in Lithuania. Since 2010, she has worked as the editor of the weekly cultural periodicalŠiaurės Atėnai (Athens of the North).
