Latvian Poetry
celebration at the
National Poetry Library.
June 18th 2025

The opening event of the 2025 festival celebrated one of the most exciting literary scenes in contemporary Europe - Latvia! In the iconic National Poetry Library, four of Latvia’s most exciting poets came to the UK to perform their work, as well as brand new collaborations made with British poets, just for this event. A sell out audience witnessed a joyous, energised event of collaborative poetic performance and literary readings, from a nation that championed our festival for the seventh year running.

Featuring new poetry and performance collaborations by Krišjānis Zeļģis and Steven J. Fowler / Līva Marta Roze and Danica Ignacio / Linda Mence and Mary Paterson / Agnese Graudiņa and James Byrne

This event will also saw the launch of Zeļģis and Fowler’s collaborative publication Levels of Care from Sampson Low Ltd, available here https://sampsonlow.co/2025/06/17/levels-of-care-krisjanis-zelgis-sj-fowler/

Supported by Latvian Literature and curated by SJ Fowler.
